Travel & Accommodation
Getting around
The closest airport to the venue is Seville (SVQ). Malaga (2h train) and Jerez (1h) are other alternatives.
Busses and rental cars (10–15€ / day) are often times cheaper than trains, and depending on your time of arrival and departure, sometimes the only option. We recommend thetrainline.com to check for trains and busses, and booking.com for car rentals.
The Wedding Venue
The wedding itself will not take place in Sevilla, but around 30min (car) – 45min (public transport) outside the city, in the beautiful Hacienda Al-Yamanah:
Hacienda Al-Yamanah
Carretera Benacazón-Sanlúcar la Mayor,
41800 Sanlúcar la Mayor,
Seville, Spain
The easiest way of getting to the venue from Seville via public transport is to take bus M-166 from Plaza De Armas (Seville) to Venta Pazo (Gasolinera) (~45min). By car you should get there within around 30min, the hacienda and hotels all have parking available.
Accommodation
If you're in town for longer than just the wedding, we highly recommend staying in the beautiful city of Seville before and after the wedding. We recommend staying central, anywhere in this area. This is also where we'll go for dinner the night before the ceremony in case you're already in town.
For the big day, we recommend one of the following hotels in Sanlúcar la Mayor, both of which are a 15min walk from the venue:
- Exe Gran Hotel Solucar (15% discount with this link)
- Hotel Abades Benacazón (5% discount with this link)
If you prefer staying in Sevilla, you can of course also take a taxi back to the city; we'll make sure to have enough taxis ready! Taxis will be around 30–50€.
While In Spain
We highly recommend spending a few days in Seville or Andalucia around the wedding, we will be staying around for a few days after, in case you want to spend more time with us!
We will be recovering from the party on the 27th, then take off to Granada, where we will spend the night of the 28th enjoying a Flamenco show. In the morning of the 29th we will go see the Alhambra, before we finally leave for the beaches of Estepona until people leave.
Where to go
Seville
: Visit the Alcázar, Giralda (Cathedral) and Plaza de España. Walk around the city, and enjoy the architecture and food.Córdoba
(1h 30m by car / train): See the Great Mosque / Cathedral, and explore Córdobas typical small streets, and courtyards full of flowers.Granada
(3h by car / train): The world-renowned Alhambra is well worth a little detour, and the views of the Sierra Nevada are spectacular.Málaga
(2h – 2h 30m by car / train): The city is beautiful in and of itself, and its proximity to some of the best beaches in Spain makes it the perfect destination for a beach break (even in late May).
What to do
Food:
One word: tapas. Order anything that sounds good (and google the names of dishes if you're not sure!). We especially recommend trying ajo blanco, salmorejo, and boquerones (typical for the region), and of course all time favouries such as croquetas, tortilla de patatas, and ensaladilla rusa.Drink:
You basically can't go wrong. Spain has some of the best wine in the world (including fortified), and if you grow bored of ice cold, cheap lager, Vermouth is very well worth a try! You might be surprised that Spaniards don't tend to drink much Sangria – try Tinto de Verano for a more authentic experience!Flamenco:
Andalucia is known for its flamenco culture. Do not leave without watching a show in any of the cities above!Architecture:
The architecture in the south of Spain is defined by its Roman and Islamic legacy. Walk through the streets and take it all in!
